Help!! Motec M400 + PLM + CAN BUS

Postby mr2andy on Wed Mar 17, 2010 2:25 am

Why is the PLM showing the correct lambda reading but the Motec M400 says different value. The PLM is connected to the M400 through Can Bus.

Please help!

Cheers
Andy

mr2andy

did you configure the PLM scaling for 3 decimal places (ie LA V1 .000)?

see page 23 of the PLM user manual for the correct entries.

Yeah.. i believe I did.

What happened is that.. when the PLM display is showing 1.00x lambda and the car is idling fine, the M400 is showing like 1.4 something..

If we follow the reading on M400 and get the lambda reading down close to 1 on M400, the PLM display will be showing 0.7 something and the engine is obviously running rich.

The Can Bus was done the way as instructed on the manual with resistor on both end of the bus. The UTC was also on the Can Bus and showing no problem at all.

mr2andy

sounds like a translation issue as the CANbus just moves data.

What does your Outut table setup look like (Output To Transmit > Output Tables) under the PLM?

I don't have access to my car now as it is currently at the shop to be tuned.. if the conversion table was incorrect, won't the value showing on the PLM display wrong as well?

negative

the Output tables that we are concered about are under the CAN Message setup which sets up the CAN message values to transmit. If the M400 LA V1 is off. Either the LA V1 message being sent is incorrect, or the translation of the LA V1 message by the M400 is incorrect.

Problem found.. the PLM is sending AFR onto the CAN BUS where the M400 is expecting LA V1(Lambda v1) ont he x460 address.

After we change the PLM to output LA V1 to the CAN 460, M400 is reading the exact same number as the PLM

Thanks you very much for your help! ;)
