RX8 Generator (Alternator)

Postby Martin on Fri Oct 02, 2009 9:16 pm

Not sure where to post this....

The RX8 Has got a Genrator that is discibed as a regulatorless generator with built in power transistor in their workshop manual.

There are 2 wires on the generator to the ECU
1. ALTT V (Input voltage from generator) units = V
2. ALTF (Generator field coil control signal) units = %

This is what I can find the manual and it seems controlable with an M800. Any advice from anybody that has tried it on a RX8?

Thanks M

I have not used the RX-8 alternator you mention (despite working on RX-8s). I believe that most people here backdate to a RX-7 piece with an internal regulator.

The externally regulated ones I have used can draw multiple amps through the field. Choose your controller carefully.
