Hi People,

I am new to this forum as investigating the use of the M4 or M48 on a Norton Featherbed Custom Cafe Racer that i have built with a 2004 Aprilia RSV1000 Factory V-twin motor

I have already been mislead by the haltech people and wasted a lot of time and money, so i want to be very sure of my next purchase.

What i need:

1) EMS that will manage odd fire timing of the 60deg V-twin (0 - 300 - 720)
2) Sequential injection
3) the option to use the OEM CDI Coils ( well i think they are CDI? )

So my questions are are these three things possible with the M4 and M48?

Re the CDI coils what i know so far:

1) there is constant +12v power supply direct from the main fusebox on a 15amp fuse
2) there are 2 wire to the OEM ECU each provides a ECU controlled ground, one to each of the coils

Anyone have any definitve answer as the the above scenario and whether it is indeed CDi coil..... as noone in the Aprilia world can tell me as it is not in any of the Technical Manuals, factory or otherwise. I have had to make a direct request to Aprilia in Italy, but you know it is Summer holidays and they really are not interested in helping!!

Both the M4 and M48 will run an oddfire V twin motor. I would choose the M4 over the M48 though as you will not need all of the injector outputs the M48 has and the un-used ignition outputs of the M4 can potentially be used for other functions such as the intake flap and cooling fan.

One potential problem may be the crank trigger system, do you know what the tooth pattern is on the crank trigger?

The ignition coils you have are not CDI, this is an inductive ignition system. A CDI coil would not have a 12V supply. You will need to use a dual output ignition module (Bosch 200) to run the coils.
