How to set the REF/SYN mode of Toyata 1NZ-FE engine

Dear All:

I am installing M4 pro to Totayo Echo 1NZ-FE engine 1500cc VVT. I found the REF 36-2 and SYN 4-1. I checked the serivce manual and Both sensors are Magnetic ( two wires) and fall .
I want to know how to setup the REF and Syn sensor. Thank you so much.

THis is Mode 28 in an M800 but not supported in M4. This engine has variable valve timing which is also not supported in M4. To make it run you would need to modify the cam trigger so it has 1 tooth and use the 2 missing teeth twice per cycle mode but this would leave you without VVT control. You would really be better off using an M400 with the Cam Control option for this engine.

You need to remove 2 of the teeth from the cam. The tooth you keep should be the one that occurs roughly 180 degrees (crank rotation) from where the missing teeth on the crank trigger pass the crank sensor. You will probably have a chouce of 2 teeth to keep, it doesn't matter which one from the two you choose.

Totayo Echo 1NZ-FE 1500cc ( Japanese modal )
Ref sensor is with two wire. ( Magnetic )
Sync sensor is with two wire ( Magnetic)
Ref 36-2 stock
Syn 4-1 stock
note : i remove two teeth from cam .

setup Motec M4 Pro
REF sensor Type 2
Sync sensor Type 2
REF/Sync Mode 71
crank Ref teeth 36
tooth ratio 50
Crank indexs position 215
I hope that i can fine tune this engine( Na to turbo )
