Motec M48 help setup trigger wheel

Postby BenPark505V6Turbo on Sun Jan 01, 2023 2:11 pm

Hi all,

I recently brought an v6 turbo engine that was smashed in an front accident. Harmonic balancer was damaged and 12tooth trigger wheel this is a old setup couldn’t find exact. I had a mate setup a new harmonic balancer and efi solutions 12 tooth trigger wheel which is slightly different in all directions,

I believe I’ve got everything else right except the trigger wheel.
I have no experience with any of this.
Any help to setup the trigger wheel again will be much appreciated!

When the trigger wheel is setup will it destroy the tune?
Hard because no one wants to take on the m48 even though I have the 32 computer to get it tuned or fixed!

Thanks for your help

Thanks Ben Park

Hi Ben,

As long as it has the same tooth count, then the different trigger whel should be able to be used without changes. The issue that may occur is if the tooth angles relative to the TDC of Cylinder 1 change then the Crank Inder Position value needs to be changed to ensure that the ignition timing is still in the correct location.
