M4 Ref and sync Problem

Postby crazyquiff on Tue May 07, 2019 7:24 am

Hi,

I have an M4 and I am using the settings below but struggling to get the ECU to drive the spark. I have a one tooth missing trigger wheel on the crank with no cam sensor. The teeth and gaps are the same size. It's a 4 stroke engine but have settings as a two stroke.

I can test the ignition system and get a spark so that side is all good. I believe the ECU is not detecting the missing tooth and not using this as the SYNC. It's picking up the REF signal as the ECU is seeing the engine RPM when cranking.

I've played with different tooth ratios and other settings but no luck. Screenshot shows 80 but have tried 40 with the same results.

Attached are the settings and scope images of the crank pickup signal going into the ECU.

Cheers

Hello,
Are you able to send a better capture of the scope trace for the ref. Can you centre it and show where the missing tooth is.
