Hello new to the tuning game, 5cyl audi

Postby urquattroisland on Thu Feb 05, 2009 7:18 am

Hello my name is john, i live in iceland, and i have a project car, an audi 5cyl 2.2turbo.
I bought a used M48 ecu with wiring and all, I have a little question, can one use a 60-2 triggering on this ecu?

And ther are 2x3 wires going to the ecu, that have been cut, have no clue what they are for, how do i find this out :?: The wire colors are white, grey and green. The other three are blue, white with grey line, and white with orange line. is this for lambda or something??

Hoping for answers, thank you so much.

By the way how is tuning with this system???

all the best john silness

Hello John,
Welcome to the MoTeC Forum.

You can use the 60-2 trigger pattern with your M48. I am not sure what the wires you are referring to are but if you have a MoTeC wiring loom you can download the loom drawing from our web site at http://www.motec.com.au/downloads/downloaddatasheets/ . The ECU wiring drawing is also available on the same page. You can also download the software and if you are new to tuning I would recommend that you download our seminar notes and take a read through them. There is a lot to read and they are based on the M800 (which uses different and more comprehensive software) but you will find this information usefull. There are also a lot of drawings with information on wiring and setting up sensors and ignition systems as well as user manuals.

Take a bit of time to become familiar with the M48 software and you will find it quite easy to use.

ok super thank you. Then i can just buy a 60-2 wheel and use that, i have a flywheel with 5 tooths on it, but so much easier to use 60-2 if i am to change car. Do i then have to change any setup in the ecu to use the 60-2??
And what will i need as camshaft sensor, or can i just use the 60-2 as ref for fuel and ignition??

Hope i am not bothering you guys, but its pretty lonley tuning up here
what kind of map sensors can i use?? where to buy?? Oh and yes it is a motec loom.

best john silness :D
