ECU TEMP - fluctuating wildly - M48

Postby Hiwind on Mon Mar 27, 2017 4:12 am

has anyone seen this before? I have searched widely here on via google and only found one reference indirectly to this issue. Seems if car hits a bump (or if ecu lightly tapped on top) this happens and once it does all other sensors default to their default settings ie engine temp 80deg C, Air to 20c etc..

I have had the ECU board de-varnished and tested and it seemed to be ok .. but I assume this means its toast?

thanks
Matt

Where did you get it tested?

There is only one place to get the ECU checked and that is at MoTeC.

You need to return the ECU to a through an official MoTeC dealer and have it looked at.

Sounds more like a wiring issue.

sensor ground or something.

Has the setup ever worked properly ?

thanks Steve .. I also thought that was the issue and checked wiring and grounds etc.. but car has 20+ grounds - could it be any of them or just one related to the sensors and the ecu/relay etc..?

The fault is intermittent but can be triggered/enduced by simply tapping the ecu box with the end of a cable tie!

I am wiring up a dummy plug to go into an analysis box as we speak
