On the older software for ref/sync modes was looking for mode 42 as a customer has a m48 and wanting to use it for a Nissan qr25 which I know is identical to the CR engine.
Would or is this even possible?? Or another alternative mode? .

Any insight if possible is greatly appreciated!

There is no easy way to run that engine. Even if you fitted custom trigger wheels you would not be able to control the vvt.
