M4 Boost Map Sites

Hi,

On a Motec M4...

Is it possible to change the granularity of the boost map (boost against RPM) such that I have greater control in the region near the higher boosts. The majority of my boost in the lower to 3/4 boost range is at 100%, but then I have two or three sites to bring it down to about 30% between 200, 250, 300 load sites.

I've been able to adjust the sites in the other tables, but I can't see where to do it for this table.

Thanks!

You can do this;
Under general setup>main setup, set Load Site Selection to -1(user defined). Then go to general setup>Misc setup, and change Boost table type to 6 (RPM & Eff point dependant). Next go to Site setup>efficiency 11, here you can enter up to 11 cell break points that you want on your boost table load axis.
Note there are other tables in the ECU that share these same break points such as some of the fuel compensations so you need to keep that in mind when deciding on the break points.

An alternative option depending on what you are trying to achieve might be to change from the open loop duty cycle based boost control that you are using to the closed loop modes 1 or 2 that will probably control much better without the need for drastic variations across the table.

Adam,

My apologies for not thanking you sooner - just came across this again when searching the same subject on Google!

I've tried your approach and works a treat! Thanks muchly.

I'd be interested to learn more about the closed loop duty based boost control (modes 1 / 2???) - this is what I want to do really, but I can't see how to do it in the M4... presumably I have to set some targets somewhere and change the boost control, but I can't for the life of me work out where.

Thanks!
