We are setting up our M48 pro on a 911 aircooled 3.6 race engine.
Details are:
Crank wheel is a 60-2 with Hall Sensor
Sync is a hall on the back of the cam (#1 Cam)
Running 12 coils with an IEX (coil signal split for each coil to fire)
The M48 help is a bit cryptic for me to really feel confident on my settings.
60 for # of ref teeth
82 for a mode
and I came up with a crip of 419 after watching the Motec Webinar on Youtube.
Sync event is 150 Degree ATDC 1. Ref sensor ref tooth event happens 55 Degree BTDC 1
Do all the settings look correct (minu CriP)?

Hi Andrew,
Your ref/sync mode should be 71,72,73 or 74. Probably any of these will work since you have hall sensors but if you see any errors try one of the other 7* modes.
60 for crT
criP should work out around 405-420 depending on which edge of the tooth you end up triggering off.
To confirm this, in the EMP software go to "ignition>Crank Index Positon", Set crank index to say 410 and test advance to zero. With a timing light connected and pointed at the pulley, crank the engine over(with sparks plug out), whilst cranking adjust the crank index value using pg up/pg down keys until TDC mark lines up, hit enter when done to save changes. That will get you close enough to run, then later when you actually have the engine running and idling you should check this timing alignment again.

Thanks!
Need to check my ref and sync signals as well

ok, sync on cam seems to be ok, used a meter and voltage drops when magnet in in sensor field, nice pulse. No RPM. Sensor has 0 8 and 5vdc supplied, and I am using a competitors wheel, 60-2 but says hall compatible.. running a tight gap from sensor to wheel, might that be an issue? made your suggested adjustments to the setup files.. No RPM means no start..
Any thoughts?
Thanks in Advance..

What model is the sensor used on the crank? Some hall effect sensors don't like the small teeth required for a 60T wheel...
With a multimeter can you see the crank sensor output going high/low as a tooth moves past it?

Thanks Adam. I figured the HALL may not be what is needed on the crank, so I went with a MAG 255-72250 and now we have low RPM, and with a meter I see no sign of missing teeth, like a spike in VDC or a noticeable Drop.
We are seeing Sync errors, soI will try all the other 7* settings.

What is a good start is the sync signal being seen with a fluke.. Nice drop when it sees the target.

Moved to 74 as a setting and no errors are being shown during cranking. RPM reads 170, no plugs and a 680 Odyssey battery. Sync event is seen via Fluke DC, but ref (now MAG) I question. I do need a Oscilloscope (AC MODE) to see this signal, correct? Or, can I verify via a fluke in AC mode, back pinning to see current? Crank stuff is Tec2 Variant.
Nothing via timing light either..
Thoughts?

After I adjusted air gap to about .060 on the ref, I have a light in Crip test mode, which is goodness, means both ref and sync are acting nice together, just need to tune crip with 0 advance and try to fire it up.. Thanks ADAM!

Removed ref sensor, and replaced with original HALL. No Light under cranking in Crip Test mode. Under sensor view, sync reads 29% steady under cranking. RPM is 180 without plugs in. Vdc from Battery drops to 11.50 during cranking. Really stumped, I am wondering if my timing light pooped out? I should get a light from#1 during crip test, no errors during cranking, see Sync error once I let the starter button go, but that seems to be normal Thoughts?? On a side note, we run a Pista dash, and rpm does not show up during cranking. odd
