I dont think there is a version for W7.
I certainly couldnt get the M48 software to work in this computer which is W7U 64bit.

You can get EMP6.2D to run ok on win7 64 using dosbox.
First install EMP6.20D - it should install ok but not run at this stage.
next install dosbox (win32 version).
Start up dosbox and at the Z: prompt, type: "mount c c:/motec" then hit enter (this mounts the motec folder as the emulated c drive)
Then at the next z: prompt, type: "c:" hit enter (this changes to the motec directory).
Then you should have a c: prompt, type: "motec" hit enter. (EMP will start)
Its actually much easier than it sounds, you can even modify the dosbox config file to do all these commands automatically on start up. You will also need to modify the dosbox config file to enable your serial port for coms.
I suggest you have a try following the instructions above and if you can get it to work then post back here and I will help you set up the config file and com port. If you cant get it to work, then I may be able to make a short "how to" video.

Thanks for that Adam.
Can it be set to open the software just by opening a Windows Icon, or how can I make it an easier task ?
Just for the home PC, not fussed on actual connectivity with the ecu.

Yes, its quite easy...
Go to start>all programs>dosbox>options>dosbox 0.74 options. This will open the dosbox.conf file which is just a plain text file and should open with notepad. Scroll down to the bottom of the conf file and you will find a section labelled {autoexec} that will look something like this:
[autoexec]
# Lines in this section will be run at startup.
# You can put your MOUNT lines here.
So now add these lines on to the bottom so it looks like the following:
[autoexec]
# Lines in this section will be run at startup.
# You can put your MOUNT lines here.
mount c c:\motec
c:
motec.bat
While you're messing aroung with the config file I would suggest one other change; up near the top of the conf file is a field "fullscreen=false", change that to "fullscreen=true", I think that will force it to start up full screen.
Dont forget to save the conf before closing notepad...
Now if you double click the dosbox icon on your desktop that should automatically startup Motec EMP. You can even change the dosbox icon for the motec one using the normal windows shortcut properties. There is also meant to be a dosbox command to make the dosbox application close when you exit the motec software but I havent been able to get it to work. For now you will have to manually type in "exit" at the c: prompt after you close the motec software (or hit alt+enter to leave full screen mode)

Hi Adam,
I have had the same issues with windows 7 and M4 software. I have been able to get dosbox to run the software exactly as your advice. However, I am having difficulty with coms. I am using an ATEN serial to USB configured with the UC232A driver as COM1. I have entered the following under serial in the dosbox options config file:
serial1=directserial realport:com1 rxdelay:1
serial2=dummy
serial3=disabled
serial4=disabled
When connecting to the ECU, the communcations are established (the ecu serial number and options row populates on the menu screen), then immediately drop out. Changing the rxdelay appears to have some effect on the time to drop out, but no value I have tried has stayed connected long enough to actually open a map.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Daniel
