Has anyone been able to get a Ducati with the 48-2 trigger to work with an M4 ecu?

Yes but starting on the standard starter motor is iffy.

The M4 is completely capable of dealing with missing tooth modes BUT you have to be very careful with the cranking consistency. Usually 2 cylinder engines have very bad cranking RPM, it goes up and down like a sine wave. The ECU can have trouble picking out the missing teeth if the battery voltage is low. The Tooth Ratio parameter can be used to tune the ECUs recognition of the missing teeth.

Problems can arise when an already iffy starting system is magnified by raising the compression or lightening the internal mass of the engine.

The M400, M600 and M800 now have a new ref/sync mode that deals better with this potential problem. Sorry the new mode will not be added to the M4 and M48.

There are plenty of bikes out there running happily.

I changed the flywheel and cam gear. Now I have 4 teeth on the crank and 1 on the cam. It starts right up.
