just bought a new laptop , HP mini.
when trying to tune my m2r it freezes every time about thirty seconds to a minute in. I cannot close the dos program at all, i have to re start the laptop to do it all again :x :x
Would this be a windows 7 issue or just a setting i need to change somewhere :)

So you can't start the task manager and end the cmd.exe process??

What version of windows 7 do you have? I assume it's not 64bit, as DOS programs are not supported at all...

I have not heard of the symptoms you describe before, but generally if the program locks up it is due to the USB to serial adaptor. I assume you are using an adaptor, what driver/brand is it?

yeh thanks for the reply, the windows version is called windows 7 starter , the whole screen freezes , except i can move the mouse around but it wont let me bring anything up, not even the windows icon bottom left hand corner works , and even using the keys on the keyboard doesn't help,

I use the usb adaptor that i bought of you guys, cant remember the brand now i got it a few years ago, but one thing, since this new laptop doesn't have a disc drive i had to download a usb driver ? maybee its not a perfect match .

Everything functions well when it does, but its a bit funny having to reboot the computer every minute to get another 30 sec of tuning  Ill have a play with it and im going to be roping in some of my computer nerdy mates to look at it when it happens , was just hoping you guys have come across it before :)
Ill give you feedback when i fix it

Hmm i haven't used Win 7 starter before, it could be a problem but i haven't found any one complaining about DOS programs running on it with a quick google search.

If you just let windows find the driver then it is possibly not the right one.
The Adaptor you should have if you got it from us is the ATEN brand. You can download the driver for it here http://www.aten-usa.com/support/driver/uc232a_windows_vista.rar.

Yes it would be good to know if you find a solution.

ok before i downloaded the driver software i opened the dos tuner program and did a bit of cleaning up here an there, it stayed function able for ages , then i downloaded the driver you gave me and went out to my car and plugged it in, it all works fine, did some more muckin around and nothing froze .

So next session when i tow the car back to work ill fire it up and then see if it finally works, freeze free :) , hoping it was just the driver software that i had windows download for me .

Thanks again, ill keep you informed :)

99% all good fellas , got the correct adapter download sorted , then did some tuning today and it was all good, only every time i unplugged the unit my computer seemed to forget that it had the correct usb adaptor software loaded, my computer tried to find a windows version and i had to stop it from happening and then let my computer search for installed usb software :?
Once it loaded the software you guys gave me then it was good to go , spose ill figure it out soon enough :)

Now any chance i could get for my birthday next week the code for lambda option  , i got the logging and advanced tuning upgrade already , only thing left is lambda and remote and extra logging to pay for
