Synch Status OK while cranking, then Not OK

Postby stownsen914 on Sat Sep 09, 2017 3:13 pm

I'm new to Motec and setting up a car that has an M4 and has not been run in many years. The engine is fresh. Most of the diagnostics check out OK, but I'm not sure about the Synch Status. I pulled the sparkplugs to get decent cranking speed, and I get Synch Status OK while cranking, but it goes back to Not OK as soon as I stop cranking. Is this OK? Thanks ...

Hi Scott,

It is normal for the ECU to go to a not synced status when the engine is not turning, this is because the ECU is not seeing any signals from the Ref or Sync sensors, and thus not know where the engine is in its cycle.
